Vehicle Design Award Given to Chevrolet Silverado Classic Hybrid
Filed Under Chevy Cars | Comments Off
Chevrolet Hybrid Silverado gets top honors from Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) as best hybrid. The best hybrid is the newest award at the SEMA show.
“The collaboration between Chevrolet, General Motors and SEMA is very valuable. We gain a lot of accessory ideas and product ideas to give the consumers what they really want. We look closely at what is offered at SEMA, we are encouraged with what’s offered and we look at new ideas. That’s where the collaboration comes in strong for us,” said Dale Sullivan, Regional Sales Marketing Manager, Western Region, General Motors.
Silverado Classic Hybrid, the first full-size production pickup that uses hybrid technology, is the first hybrid in the industry to be recognized as the most accessory friendly vehicle in this year’s SEMA show, which was held at Las Vegas. The hybrid version of Silverado was launched last year. It is the first hybrid vehicle of General Motors.
Chevrolet Silverado replacement parts are designed to boost the performance of the hybrid. The vehicle’s electric motor serves power accessories only. In addition, the system of vehicle automatically shuts down when the truck brakes below 13 mph. Silverado hybrid uses electric power to restart it.

On the Run with Kurt Johnson driver of the ACDelco Chevrolet Cobalt Pro Stocker
Filed Under Chevy Cars | Comments Off
It is always special when you accomplish something before anyone else, and I know it meant a lot to the entire ACDelco crew to be the first to win a national event with the new Chevy Cobalt. The car has shown a lot of promise since its debut in Bristol, and after a brief learning curve, we felt it was a win waiting to happen. After coming close in Columbus and English-town, we finally sealed the deal in Madison.

Needless to say, a lot of people have helped make this happen. We have been very fortunate to have ACDelco as our primary sponsor since 1996, and I am proud to say that we have won at least one race every year with them on board. I would like to thank Duane Miller, Brent Snelson, Sue Christophersen, and everyone at ACDelco for their continued support.
Sue came to the ACDelco Motorsports team from the training division earlier this year. We had worked with her before on, among other things, the Technician of the Millenium program, and we look forward to expanding our relationship. She’s an accomplished racer in her own right; she drives an eightsecond bracket car and is one of the first women to exceed 200 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats. She brings an entirely new perspective to the table, and we’re glad to have her on board.
I’d also like to acknowledge Fred Simmonds, Dan Engel, and their GM Racing staff. I know how hard they worked to get the Cobalt to the racetrack, and I’m glad we brought it home a winner. Others who deserve recognition are Chris Leggio and everyone at Mark Christopher Auto Center in Ontario, Calif. They have been with us since the beginning in 1993. Thanks for being there.
ACDelco has a new display in the Manufacturers Midway; I invite everyone to check it out. It’s called the ACDelco Extreme Garage, and it has full-size replicas of my Cobalt and Glint Bowyer’s Busch Series Monte Carlo, racing games, and video of me and other Team ACDelco members. You can also enter the ACDelco Extreme Garage Sweepstake, in which one lucky fan will win a complete garage makeover, which includes being awarded some neat equipment that I’d like to have in my shop. You can also enter the sweepstake at www.ACDelco.com.
One of the keys to winning races is consistency, and that’s something we have achieved through a lot of hard work. A lot of changes have been made to our team since the end of last year - we’re running the new DRCE III engines, and we’ve put in seven races with the new Cobalt - but through it all, the one constant, key ingredient has been my crew, which is one of the hardest working in all of motorsports. You can have all of the right parts, but you also need the team to back them up, and I’m fortunate to have the best of both.
