Maguire family to buy Cooke Chevrolet-Cadillac

The deal is expected to close Nov. 13, says William Cooke, president of the Cooke dealerships. Cooke says he had been looking to sell his General Motors franchise to focus on the larger of his two businesses, Bill Cooke Imports, also located in Ithaca.

“I think it comes down to that we had accomplished what we wanted to accomplish with the [General Motors] franchise,” Cooke says. “We wanted to concentrate on Bill Cooke Imports.”

The companies did not disclose financial terms of the deal. Cooke says he received strong interest in the GM dealership, including from some dealers outside the area and even outside the state.
